Make that three consecutive shutouts for the West Genesee ice hockey team, and seven overall as it has beaten 11 consecutive foes to open the season.
Clinton became the latest victim of this defensive juggernaut in last Tuesday night’s non-league game at Shove Park, a 5-0 decision.
WG scored twice in each of the first two periods, as Ryan Michel, Tim Bubnack and the rest of the back line schooled the young Clinton lineup, holding them to just nine shots all night.
Not content with his defensive prowess, Michel also picked up three assists, anchoring an attack where five different players scored. D.J. Mazzoni, Ryan McConnell, Zach Lewis and Erich Haney joined Michel with one goal, as Mazzoni got two assists. Dylan Parker and Anthony Militello joined Lewis and Haney with one assist apiece.
Following some holiday rest, WG would aim to keep its shutout streak going Tuesday against defending Division II champion Skaneateles at Shove Park before Gates-Chili (Section V) visits next Saturday afternoon.
