It took six tries, with one tie thrown in the mix, before the Hamilton ice hockey team could break into the win column.
The Emerald Knights pulled this off last Tuesday night, at Utica Auditorium, where it handled Utica Proctor in a 6-1 decision where B.J. Drozynski and Adam Jackowski ruled the ice.
Wasting little time, Hamilton raced out to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period and kept the Raiders off the board until the third period, by which time the game was well in hand.
Drozynski and Jackowski each finished with three-goal hat tricks to account for all the Emerald Knights’ offense, with Drozynski assisting on one of Jackowski’s tallies.
Blaine Holcomb picked up three assists, while Tyler White earned two assists and Dylan May added an assist, too. In his own net, goaltender Brandon Rush got to relax, only having to face eight shots all night.
Hamilton faces Ontario Bay in Monday’s opening round of the King of the Coliseum Touranment at State Fair Coliseum in Geddes at 3:30. The winner would get Solvay or Westmoreland in Tuesday’s championship game at 5:30.
