Weather shortened last weekend’s Tri-Valley Tournament at Whitesboro into a one-day affair on Saturday.
Still, the Morrisville-Eaton wrestling team proceeded to make it a productive day, finishing fifth in the field of 17 with 102 points. South Jefferson won the team title with 218 points.
Three different Warrior wrestlers made the finals — but only Ryan LeBlanc won, at 160 pounds. He worked his way through three straight technical falls to reach the title match, then beat Whitesboro’s Greg Williams in an 8-2 decision.
Alex Meyers moved down to 189 pounds and won twice to reach the championship round against Holland Patent’s Dan Fruscella, a close contest that Fruscella won 4-2.
Cody Frost had to win three consecutive decisions to reach the 140-pound final before falling to Cicero-North Syracuse’s Todd Hagger in a 5-2 battle. Darren Perry earned third place at 130 pounds.
M-E now enters a long respite — three weeks, to be precise, though it will keep practicing during the holiday break. The Warriors’ season resumes Jan. 10 with a visit to the Warrensburg Dual meet.
