Billy Werksman gave the Cicero-North Syracuse boys swim team something to remember during last Thursday’s meet at West Genesee.
Locked in a tight diving battle with Wildcat teammates Pete Steding and Josh Byrne, Werksman won with 214.75 points, setting a new CNS school record for a single meet. Steding (207.30 points) and Byrne (200.30 points) were close behind.
CNS lost the meet, 96-77, but still took two of the three relays. Paul LaRosa, Mike Wermuth, Danny Angarano and Jacob Werksman combined to take the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.13).
Werksman, Angarano and LaRosa joined John McCabe as the Northstars also won the 400 fresetyle relay in 4:07.98. On his own, McCabe won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.97.
WG had a pair of double winners, as Tim Gallivan took the 50 freestyle (24.17 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.32), while Connor Agen claimed victories in the 200 freestyle (1:58.88) and 500 freestyle (5:09.08). CNS is off until Jan. 6, when its season resumes at Nottingham.
