Riding a fast start, the Canastota boys basketball team led all the way in last Wednesday’s game against Camden, beating the Blue Devils by a score of 63-43.
The Raiders put on a lot of defensive pressure in the early going, and that, combined with timely baskets, led to a 17-4 edge by the end of the first quarter.
From there, Canastota kept going until the margin was 20, 47-27, at the close of the third period before it settled down.
Ryan Merrell set the pace for the Raiders with 14 points. Tom Zupan and Anton Motley each had 10 points, while Kevin DiGaspari and Keith Casolare got six points apiece. Alex Van Pelt led Camden with 18 points.
The Raiders are home Friday to face Sauquoit Valley before playing in the annual Chittenango Christmas Tournament on Dec. 29 and 30.
