Even with a step up in competition, the Baldwinsville team remained impressive in the early portions of the winter campaign.
The Bees made a short road trip to Central Square last Wednesday night and won every match from 130 pounds on up on its way to beating the Red Hawks 46-18.
Nathan Russell, at 152 pounds, needed just 30 seconds to pin John Benton. Andrew Giormini (171 pounds) earned his pin over Dylan Wilson in 1:06, while Corey Buyck, at 189 pounds, needed just 1:18 to finish off Josh Brandenburg.
As it turned out, all of the Bees’ four pins were first-period efforts, with Anthony Finocchiaro taking 1:36 to earn a fall over his 112-pound foe, Alex Potts.
In terms of activity, the most exciting match came at 140 pounds, where B’ville’s Antonio Peck and Central Square’s Derrick Brooks traded points for six minutes. Peck did more, though, and won a 22-13 decision.
Elsewhere, Kurt McArdell (145 pounds) and Sean Hennigan (160 pounds) both won by equal 11-points margins, with McArdell beating Nick Guerin 15-4 and Henningan topping Matt McChesney 13-2.
B’ville would also win three more decisions. Kyle Sheridan, at 215 pounds, blanked John Denslow 7-0, while Cookie Caloia (135 pounds) routed Josh Prall 10-1 and Tim Hamm (130 pounds) fought to an 8-4 decision over Brandon Burghart.
The Bees will wrestle again on Saturday, at the General Brown Dual Meet in Dexter.
