More than 200 nominees strutted and schmoozed at the Second Annual Upper State Independent Awards last Saturday Nov. 8, at the Palace Theater in Eastwood. Nearly three dozen of them came away with awards.
The Indie Awards recognize artistic and academic achievement in 34 categories ranging from hip-hop to reggae, athletics and photography.
The awards show was produced by Jimmy Black, a local rapper and music entrepreneur a.k.a. Kendric Bedell, and his wife, television host Sheridonna. The show included a fashion show along with musical performances.
Voting was done primarily online at USAIWARDS.COM.
