Jordan-Elbridge school district voters last night rejected the proposed 2008-09 budget, which called for a 4.64% tax levy increase.
Voters also turned down a proposal to buy land for the high school to construct a storm water retention basin, but voted in favor of buying six buses and approved a village public library proposition separate from the school budget.
J-E district residents will again head to the voting booth next month for the capital project proposal. Polls will be open June 10, from 12 to 9 p.m. A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at the high school.
Board of Education incumbent members Mary Baner Alley and Jeanne E. Pieklik were voted to their second and fourth terms, respectively. Diana M. Foote will begin her first term on the board; incumbent Erica L. O’Brien, seeking a third term, did not receive enough votes to remain on the board.
