No one is, at this exact moment, predicting any kind of fame for any members of the Skanetaeles boys golf team.
But at least this group of Lakers can take comfort in the knowledge that it shattered both team and individual scoring marks during the course of Monday afternoon’s 177-218 victory over Solvay at Pine Grove.
The 177 broke a team record set back in 1988, when current PGA Tour player Tom Scherrer was leading the Lakers. What’s more, Eric Edmunds’ nine-hole total of 32 set an individual record for a single match.
Improving to 2-0 on the season, Skaneateles had six players break 40 on the Pine Grove layout. Jeff Baldetti shot a 35, while Jay Stith recorded a 36. Ty Lorey added a 37, as Brian Stokes-Cawley and Alan Notarpole each had rounds of 39.
The Lakers are at its home course of Skanetaeles Country Club for matches against Marcellus and Cazenovia.
