No one could keep the Fayetteville-Manlius girls indoor track and field team from following one triumph with another.
A week removed from claiming the Section III Class AA title, the Hornets swept to the top at last Monday night’s CNY Counties League American division meet at Manley Field House.
Overall, F-M gained 148 points, more than double the total of West Genesee, who finished second with 71 points as Corcoran (60 points) finished third.
More than half the points came from the Hornets dominating the distance events again. In the opening 4×400 relay, Molly Malone, Jessica Marini, Shannon McHugh and Kathryn Fanning posted a time of 4:11.23, more than 12 seconds ahead of WG (4:24 flat) in second place.
Malone took the 600-meter run (1:38.55) by more than five second over WG’s Katie Bott, while Fanning prevailed at 1,500 meters in 4:54.85.
Mackenzie Carter, who was second in the 1,500 (5:02.55), would prevail in the 1,000-meter run in 3:02.04, ahead of Jocelyn Richards (3:03.16) in second place. Courtney Chapman (10:18.68) and Kristen Buchan (10:52.92) went 1-2 in the 3,000-meter run. In the 4×800 relay, Carter, Malone, Richards and Chapman combined for a victory in 9:45.87.
Elsewhere, Alex Seabury won the long jump, going 15 feet 5 inches as Mary Hartzheim went 32 feet to take the triple jump. Claire Luber won the pole vault and also beat the field in the 55-meter hurdles, winning in 9.57 seconds to edge past Oswego’s Eliza Parker. Lauren Ruggiero was third in 7.90 seconds.
