Make that 41 consecutive meets for the Jamesville-DeWitt/CBA boys swim team as it nears the completion of its third consecutive undefeated regular season.
Getting the maximum amount of pull from its relay teams just when they were required, the Red Rams earned a 97-89 victory over Liverpool last Tuesday night and moved to 11-0 on the season.
Each side had fared well on the question of depth, leaving the meet to be decided by the final race, the 400 freestyle relay.
All Eric Jorgenson, Ryan Smith, Steve Brown and Tyghe Speidel pulled off was swimming that event in 3:31.97, the fastest time J-D/CBA has posted this season, to knock off Liverpool and keep the win streak alive against the last team to beat the Rams head-to-head, back in 2004.
Liverpool made it more difficult by winning each of the first four contests. Not until James Luttinger got on the diving board and earned 232.45 points did J-D/CBA earn credit for an individual title.
Still, a bunch of second and third-place finishes kept the Rams close in the points race, and it started to really turn when Scott Thieke swam the 100 freestyle in a time of 52.24 seconds.
Garrett Farchione needed 59.59 seconds to prevail in the 100 backstroke, just before Speidel got through the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.33.
And in the 200 freestyle relay, Thieke, Jorgenson, Bryan Daley and Jack Fletcher posted a winning time of 1:34.43.
Jeff Rapp led Liverpool with titles in the 200 individual medley (2:05.18) and 500 freestyle (5:07.35). Also, Chad Miller tore through the 200 freestyle in 1:51.68 before winning the 100 butterfly in 55.20 seconds.
