Everything about the Baldwinsville bowling team’s pair of exciting 4-3 wins over Liverpool on Dec. 3 indicated a new era was beginning.
For one thing, the Bees had knocked off the Warriors on both fronts, something rarely accomplished in recent years.
Even more important was the fact that this took place at Lakeview Bowling Center, a byproduct of the new CNY Counties League.
Due to the Class AA schools splitting from the Onondaga High School League, teams in sports like bowling had more freedom to map out schedules. Plus, they didn’t have to go to mass OHSL matches at Strike-N-Spare Lanes anymore.
Sure enough, the Bees will have its home contests at B’ville Sports Bowl in the village, just down the road from Baker High School. And Liverpool was at Lakeview, a home-alley advantage that B’ville overcame to prevail here.
In the boys event, Todd Fenchel shot a high game of 278. Ryan Kratz had a steady 609 series and high game of 207, while Ryan Calkins fit a 214 game into his 606 set.
Over on the girls side, B’ville’s Andrea Peterson put up a series of 648 better than any of her male counterparts, including a high game of 244. Liverpool’s Kelsey Dunham had a 637 series and high game of 258.
Playing again on Monday afternoon, both of B’ville’s teams swept past the Henninger Black Knights in 7-0 decisions.
On the boys end, Ryan Kratz put up a 716 series, including a high game of 257. Pat Mahar wasn’t far behind, with a 701 series and 239 high game, while Calkins shot a 243 game amid his 587 set.
Peterson led the girls Bees again, coming close to her Liverpool total with a 643 series and high game of 233. Rachel Thompson shot a 227 game on her way to a 608 set.
