Liverpool BOE holds meeting on reconfiguration

Thursday night, crowds packed into the auditorium at Chestnut Hill Middle School to hear a presentation from Castallo and Silky Consultants on the elementary and middle school grade reconfiguration study begun last summer. At the school board’s previous meeting Sept. 25, the consultants gave their surprising recommendation: to go to a k-5/6-8 configuration and to close Liverpool Elementary School and turn it into a middle school annex.

The consultants again gave their presentation Thursday night to a much larger audience. Afterwards, several district residents stood up to take issue with the recommendation. Most were there to protest the closing of LE, but others rejected the idea of changing the configuration entirely.

The board is not expected to vote on the recommendation until the Oct. 23 meeting at the earliest.
