FAIRMOUNT — The Fairmount Community Library is expanding programming during the month of April. Programs with the Everson Museum, Baltimore Woods Nature Center, and the Rosamond Gifford Zoo have been added to the list of innovative programs being offered by the library.
In support of parents who are home schooling their children we continue to offer free monthly homeschool curriculums for families in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten, first and second grades. Packets can be picked up curb-side at the library. Families must register online for this program by visiting the library calendar at fairmountlibrary.org. A weekly Preschool lesson on the FCL Facebook Group “FCL Early Literacy Corner” will be offered as a support resource for the curriculums every Monday at 9:30 a.m. All links can be found at fairmountlibrary.org/children or on our Youtube channel, tinyurl.com/fclvideos.

Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16 Poetry Week at the FCL Explore how powerful words can be through poetry during April’s poetry month and when we celebrate poetry week at the FCL! A fun way to write, poetry offers early phonemic awareness to early readers. Miss Karen will be posting fun activities to do at home with short poems. Tuesday, April 20 at 6 p.m. Twilight at the Zoo: A Virtual Experience Join us for a very special Twilight at the Zoo presentation. If you have a life-long love of animals and are interested in conservation, you’ll truly appreciate this special event presented by the staff of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. The program is entitled “Amazing Adaptations” and will dive deep into how animals survive in their environments using specific body parts and behaviors. Sunday, April 25 at 2 p.m. Sunday Fun Day Spring Themed Art Project with the Everson Museum Join us for another fun virtual art program with the Everson Museum! An Everson Educator will guide kids through a step by step spring-themed art activity inspired by the children’s story, Lola Plants a Garden by Anna McQuinn.
