Camillus Elks shows its support
The pandemic has not stopped the Camillus Elks Lodge #2367 from cultivating youth, sustaining veterans, and supporting communities.
Early in the pandemic they received a $2,500 Gratitude Grant from Elks National Foundation (ENF) which as divided between the Food Bank of CNY, the Samaritan Center, and Echo Meals on Wheels.
With a Beacon Grant from Elks National Foundation, they partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 39 bunk beds and donate $3,500 to purchase mattresses. Sleep on Heavenly Peace provides beds and bedding to children who might otherwise sleep on the floor.
Most recently, the lodge was awarded a Spotlight Grant of $2,000 from ENF which they used to purchase personal care items, cleaning supplies, socks and underwear, lap robes, lounge pants and t-shirts, snacks, toilet paper, and 68 hand sewn face masks.
These items were recently delivered to the Vet Center in Syracuse. Shown outside the Vet Center are District Deputy Tom Kanaley, Past Exalted Ruler Jim Roe, Lodge Trustee Stan Chesneski, Lodge Secretary and grant chairman Cheryl Chesneski, Lecturing Knight Don Fittipaldi, Rich Purell of the Vet Center, Veterans Services Chairman Bob Maraio, and Vet Center Director Frank Salvadore.
