Doris C. Rudolph, 91, died peacefully in her own home Friday morning, May 8, 3030. Born in Brooklyn on April 7, 1929, to Louis and Ida Cohen, she had grown up in the New York area. She met her future husband Joel while they were both at Syracuse University and were married after graduating. They settled in Syracuse, raised their family in Fayetteville and enjoyed a good life.
Doris, who had master’s degrees in social work and English, worked for the Department of Mental Health for Onondaga County for more than 15 years until retiring. She was a member of Temple Adath Yeshurun, and was an active volunteer throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling, writing, reading and SU sports. Doris will forever be remembered for her kindness and compassion for people. Acquaintances became friends, and friends became family.
Her beloved husband Joel died in 1973. Her family included her children Susan, David, Richard (Leslie), Philip, Stephen; grandchildren Jonathon, Jennifer, Nathan, Amanda and Stephanie; her brother Stanley (Paige) Cohen; and her companion of many years Sydney Shiffman.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 11, in the Tifereth Zvi Cemetery in Whitesboro. The service was live streamed on the Sisskind Funeral Service Facebook page at 2 p.m.
