Distance learning will continue through the spring break for students across New York. On Monday, the state clarified for local school districts its expectations for the spring break period, which was scheduled for April 4 through April 12, sending school districts scrambling to alert teachers and families that online teaching would continue through that period.
According to a memo from the state Education Department to districts: “districts must continue to provide remote instruction for students, meals for students, and child care for essential workers every weekday between April 1, 2020 and April 14, 2020, even if the district is scheduled to be on spring break during that time.”
As of press time on Tuesday morning, the websites from all three local school districts: Fayetteville-Manlius, East Syracuse Minoa, and Jamesville-DeWitt, had not been updated with the new information.
