Community members are invited to celebrate all the hard work that’s gone into the transformation of the Liverpool Public Library at a Grand Reopening ceremony in the main room at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24.
There will be a ribbon-cutting, brief words from library officials and dignitaries and light refreshments. Afterward, library staffers will be available to point out and discuss the facilities and services in the main room, Children’s Room and lobby/foyer that took place in three phases since mid-2019.
“Although the main room of the library has been open for about two months, the Children’s Library renovation is now complete. We would like to show our appreciation to our community for the support and patience shown to us during the renovation,” said LPL Director Glenna Wisniewski. “Our Grand Reopening celebration is our way of saying thank you!”
Light refreshments and small gifts of appreciation will be available.
The facelift has included ADA-compliant renovation to the two men’s and women’s restrooms in the lobby and family restroom in the Children’s Library; more seating, improved lighting, new study rooms, a one-stop reference and checkout desk and an easy-to-navigate business center in the main room; and larger play areas and a new, cozy cubby wall in the Children’s Library.
The renovation expenses were paid from the library’s fund balance.
More changes will come in the Children’s Library grant money is received.
