Meet the new boss, same as the old boss: Incumbent elected officials held onto their seats in the town of Clay.
Town Supervisor Damian Ulatowski, a Republican, beat out Democratic challenger Ronald Verwij. Ulatowski received 7,379 votes, or 61.57% of ballots cast. Verwij earned 4,594 votes (38.33%).
GOP incumbents prevailed on the Clay Town Board as well. David Hess was the top vote-getter with 8,706 votes, or 28.55% of ballots cast. Gene Young received 8,252 votes (27.06%) and Joe Bick earned 7,934 votes (26.02%).
Democratic challenger LaToya Jones was not elected, receiving 5,434 votes (17.82%).
Clay Town Clerk Jill Hageman-Clark retained her seat with 9,927 votes (99.17%). Hageman-Clark, a Republican, ran unopposed.
Clay Town Justice Brian Lauri, a Republican, will stay on the bench, having received 7,972 votes (37.14% of ballots cast). He will be joined by GOP newcomer Jeff Schiano, who earned 7,940 votes (37%).
Democratic challenger Beth Lockhart received 5,476 votes (25.51%) in her bid for town justice.
Onondaga County Legislature
In the race for the 2nd District, Republican incumbent Jim Rowley earned 3,347 votes, or 58.7% of ballots cast. Democratic challenger Nodesia Hernandez received 2,351 votes (41.23%).
Legislator Casey Jordan, who ran unopposed, will continue to represent the 14th District. Jordan, a Republican, received 4,545 votes (99.06%).
