About the Trail Run: This August, nature lovers, sports enthusiasts, families, and their supporters will gather at the starting line at the 4th annual “Run for The Woods” at Baltimore Woods Nature Center to show their support for environmental education and stewardship in our community. This family-friendly, healthy event features a challenging cross-country style 5K trail run that showcases our 182-acre preserve, introducing runners and their supporters to a place that over 20,000 people visit each year. Runners (and registered walkers, too!) will travel over hills and through valleys, along streams and ponds, and back through the meadow to the finish line. Kids 10 and under can join in the free 1K Kids Fun Run in the meadow at 8:30am. The morning will include children’s activities and a post-race celebration with prizes from local businesses to the top runners by age category and Doug’s ice cream for everyone! Those who want to support the race without running can enter the “No Sweat” raffle and have chances to win several awesome prize baskets with values up to $500. Raffle tickets available on at baltimorewoods.org or on the day of the race.
The race is sponsored by Doug’s Fish Fry of Skaneateles, LamarAdvertising, Wegmans, Central New York Community Foundation, Dr. Vance’s Family Chiropractic, Rebound Sports & Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Tessy Plastics, Dr. Taryn Smith Jirousek Family Dentistry, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. All proceeds benefit Baltimore Woods Nature Center in its mission to provide environmental education and stewardship in the Central New York region.
