A difficult early-season slate for the Skaneateles girls swim team continued with Tuesday night’s meet against Jamesville-DeWitt at the Community Center pool.
And though the Lakers lost, 95-87, to the Red Rams, it still had plenty of fine individual efforts. Nikki Cole, who broke the school record in the 100 butterfly during her team’s win over Holland Patent on Sept. 23, won here, too, taking the 50 freestyle in 26.23 seconds.
Kaela Fiutak dazzled on the diving board, setting a school record for a single meet with 206.5 points. Also, Halie King took the 500 freestyle in 6:20.48.
Cole helped Rachael DeWitt, Halle King and Rachel Teixeria swim to a top time of 4:13.91 in the 400 freestyle relay.
J-D mostly won by claiming a lion’s share of the individual titles. This included Kalie Coyne taking the 200 individual medley (2:17.59) and 100 butterfly (1:01.56), plus Molly Hair prevailing in the 200 freestyle (2:06.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.91) and Sophia Farchione taking the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Skaneateles (2-2) has just one more home meet in the regular season, against Auburn on Oct. 18. Before that, though, the Lakers go on the road, first visiting Oswego next Monday before an Oct. 6 trip to Mexico.
