The end of a quick and condensed regular season neared for area high school golf teams, with the Marcellus boys sailing towards a perfect mark against all of its Onondaga High School League foes.
That included last Monday’s 199-324 rout of Solvay at Pine Grove, where David Bosak took the lead with a nine-hole score of 37, ahead of the 39s from Lukas Stasyuk and Lee Piekiel. Brendan Smith posted a 57 to lead the Bearcats.
Now the Mustangs were off until a Friday showdown with Manlius-Pebble Hill at Sunset Ridge. Though the Trojans had the star duo of Johnny Gruninger and Grant Lewis, Marcellus, with the deeper lineup, prevailed 214-230.
Shooting another 37, Bosak tied Gruninger, one shot behind the 36 from Lewis. Then the Mustangs took charge as Shawn Colella had a 39, while John White had a 45, Stasyuk a 46 and Piekiel and Pat Morocco each shot 47 ahead of the 49 from MPH’s Tommy Wildhack.
Jordan-Elbridge split a three-team match last Monday at Millstone, shooting 234 to beat Weedsport (303), but behind Cato-Meridian’s total of 22.

A day later, J-E fell 228-259 to MPH, with Melfi’s 46 far back of the 34 from Gruninger and 35 from Lewis as Jewsbury had a 48.
But J-E did beat Weedsport 237-298 on Wednesday to get back to the .500 mark (5-5), this time with Sullivan leading the way as his 43 beat out Melfi’s 45. Zach Lipton and Sage Crawford both finished with 49.
In girls golf, Marcellus nearly pulled off its biggest win in years last Monday at Tuscarora, staying right with undefeated Christian Brothers Academy before taking a 230-232 defeat to the Brothers.
Grace Alexander shot a 52 for the Mustangs, four ahead of CBA’s Elizabeth Lucas and Isabella Meade, with Megan Mitchell getting a 59.
But Annie Klimartin and Hannah Kang matched Mitchell’s 59 and were just ahead of the Marcellus trio of Sophia Matthews (60), Bronte Stahl (61) and Kendall Koloski (62), accounting for the slim margin.
Then Marcellus did prevail 210-224 over Cazenovia a day later. Koloski shot a 48, two behind the Lakers’ Sophie Clancy, but depth made up for it as Stahl was third with a 52, with Matthews getting a 54. Mitchell and Brooke Spaeth each shot 57.
On Thursday, Marcellus topped Cazenovia again, this time 252-272 at Tuscarora. Alexander’s 54 was two shots behind Clancy, but Koloski’s 59 pushed the Mustangs in front, and it stayed there with a 69 from Mitchell and a 70 from Stahl.

For the Warriors, Kate Vaughan’s 54 at Camillus Country Club was the best round for the Warriors as Charlotte Roth added a 60, two ahead of the Bears’ Anastasia Joynt.
From there, Skaneateles went on a 274-276 defeat to Cazenovia on Wednesday, with Lili Winkelman shooting a 51 to tie Clancy. Tess Peterson had a 53, with Julia Marshall adding a 54 ahead of Veronica Walker (58) and Riley McConochy (60).

In Friday’s 209-218 defeat to Cazenovia, Westhill saw Bleskoski shoot a 52, just ahead of Vaughan (54), Isabella Jones (55) and Grace McMahon (57), but the 41 shot by Clancy gave the Lakers its winning margin.
