It figures to be an exciting race in Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division, with Liverpool and Baldwinsville, among others, poised to challenge Fayetteville-Manlius for top honors.
First, though, these two neighbors would play each other on Friday afternoon at Liverpool Country Club, and the Bees, despite winning its first four matches of the season, could not make it five in a row as the Warriors beat them 182-213.
Mia Avotins led Liverpool, shooting a 40 for nine holes, while Nataly Avotins managed a 43 that was one shot better than B’ville’s low round of 44 by Colleen Vredenburg, which the Warriors’ Hannah Dombroski matched.
Lindsey Toper shooting a 55 helped Liverpool clinch the win. On B’ville’s side, Margaret Dec shot a 48, while Cara Vredenburg had a 57 and Jessica Bilynsky had a 64.
The Bees were 4-0 following last Wednesday’s three-team match against Central Square and Auburn at Highland Golf Club, where B’ville scored 204 to pull away from the host Maroons (224) and the Redhawks, who finished at 240.
Even though Central Square’s Emily Barnes posted the low nine-hole score of 48, three Bees were next in line as Dec, Colleen Vredenburg and Cara Vredenburg each shot 49. Bilynsky finished with a 57 to help seal B’ville’s victory, with Auburn getting rounds of 52 from Dori Masters and Emily Botindari
Each of the Cicero-North Syracuse golf sides would get underway Friday by going head-to-head at Northern Pines. The more experienced C-NS side easily won, topping C-NS Green 191-267.
Amy Krohl led C-NS Blue with a 43, while Abby Ainsworth had a 46. Jessica Ricciardi posted 49 and Jen Carl added a 53 as, for C-NS Green, Cali Heick, with a 64, beat out Josie Gabriell (67), Gabby Diorio and Grace Devinney (68 each) for individual honors.
