In its only bit of post-season competition, the West Genesee girls bowling team would head to Strike-N-Spare Lanes last Tuesday afternoon for the inaugural Salt City Athletic Conference championships.
With a team pinfall of 1,322, the Wildcats finished 10th. Liverpool took the team title with a pinfall of 1,880, edging runner-up Fulton (1,864) by just 16 pins for the top spot.
A day earlier, West Genesee had faced Baldwinsville head-to-head at B’ville Sports Bowl, unable to earn a point in either match.
Ben Conroy had a three-game total of 615 for the boys Wildcats, with a 224 high game. Richard Wituszynski’s 195 game led to a 553 set as Conor Matthewson had a 482 series and Deano Procopio got a 464 set.
B’ville displayed plenty of depth, with Jarod Napiorkowski shooting a 659 series and high game of 231, just ahead of Chris Forbes (635 series, 247 high game), Tanner Rozycko (627 series) and Colin Ponto (595 series).
Over in the girls match, WG lost, 3-0, to B’ville, with Maddy Lux shooting a 422 series ahead of Gina Neri (388 series) and Emily Shields (354 series). The Bees got 484 series from Brooke Flask and a 476 series from Madison Haas.
Before the sectional tournament, the Solvay girls completed an undefeated run through the Onondaga High School League with a 3-0 shutout over Altmar-Parish-Williamstown.
Jessica Birdslow shot a 592 series for the Bearcats, with Caitlin McCann’s 191 game leading to a 475 set. Abby Lee added a 422 series.
Then Solvay went after the sectional Division II team title on Sunday and finished fourth among Division II schools and seventh in the Class B standings with a team total of 3,828, with Camden (4,619) earning the Division II team title.
With a six-game total of 945, Birdslow finished 20th among all individuals, with a high game of 212. McCann had a 765 total.
The Solvay boys team was eighth in both the Division II and Class B standings with a total pinfall of 4,267 as Little Falls (5,127) earned the trip to the OnCenter next month for the state tournament. Nate Gardner had the top six-game total of 923, which included a high game of 222.
