Back on Dec. 19, the Liverpool bowling teams each pulled off close-fought victories over their neighbors from Cicero-North Syracuse in a match at Flamingo Bowl.
But when the two sides squared off again at Strike-N-Spare Lanes last Thursday afternoon, the result was slightly different. The undefeated girls Warriors won 2-1, but the C-NS boys got even with Liverpool by that same margin.
Leading a balanced Northstars effort, Zach Emm and Nick Bough each put together 670 series, Bough earning a high game of 234 and Emm getting a high game of 239.
Liverpool’s Zak Ormsby still had the best individual series, a 709 where his best game was 258. Brandon Davis bowled well, too, with a three-game total of 642 and a top game of 237.
In the other match, Danielle Maher led the Liverpool girls as she shot a season-best game of 255 on her way to a 590 series. Riley Warren also had a 590 series (216 high game), while Ashley Hardy’s 190 game led to a 513 set. Dailyn McCarthy had a 495 series and Dominique Cimini contributed a 458 set.
C-NS stayed close through the likes of Carly Lescenski, who had a 554 series to lead her side. Mikayla Drozdz got a 220 game on her way to a 532 series, with Elianna Pitts getting a 529 series (192 high game). Trinity Drozdz earned a three-game total of 513.
Just before this showdown, Liverpool first had to travel to Baldwinsville, where it lost its boys match to the Bees in a 2-1 decision.
Deacon Roberson had a 548 series for the boys Warriors at B’ville Sports Bowl, while Lucas Pobutkiewicz had a 531 set. Devin Roberson added a 225 game. For the Bees, Tanner Rozycko had a 604 series, helped by Chris Forbes (567 series) and Dylan Williams (558 series).
Meanwhile, in the girls match against B’ville, Liverpool got a 563 series from Maher that included a 192 high game as McCarthy added a 508 series and 190 high game. The Bees’ Brooke Flask led her side with a 543 series and high game of 214.
C-NS would take on Fayetteville-Manlius and claim a 3-0 victory over the Hornets at Strike-N-Spare Lanes, led by J.J. O’Connell, who shot a 702 series that included a high game of 255.
Tim Cloonan was close behind, putting together a 692 series as Emm got a 673 series. Bough contributed a 654 set as F-M featured a 618 series from Kevin Winschel and a 573 series from Isaac Blanford.
