Trustee Steven Wells is Commencement speaker; Trustee Paul W. deLima to be awarded honorary degree; Assemblyman William Magee to receive Distinguished Service Award
Cazenovia College will host its 192nd Commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 13. Alumni, faculty, staff, trustees, parents, friends and neighbors of the College community will join together on this special day to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2017.
Trustee Steven Wells will serve as the speaker for the College’s 192nd Commencement. Wells serves on the board’s finance and institutional advancement committees. He leads, along with other family members, American Food and Vending, one of the largest privately held, on-site culinary and refreshment service providers in the U.S. With headquarters in Syracuse, the company operates in 35 cities across 15 states with over 1,500 employees.
This year’s recipient of a doctor of humane letters, honoris causa, is trustee Paul W. deLima. Since 2011, deLima’s dedication and support of Cazenovia College has been exemplary. The College has benefited greatly from the extensive business experience he has brought to the board as chair of the finance committee, and as interim chair of the board during the recent transition in leadership. DeLima is the retired chief executive officer of Paul deLima Coffee Company.
Assemblyman William Magee will receive the Distinguished Service Award. A dedicated friend of the College, he has provided thoughtful and supportive responses to the College’s legislative questions and concerns. As a member of the New York State Assembly Committee on Higher Education, he has consistently fought to invest in local colleges and universities. He has secured funding for initiatives to improve facilities and the quality of education at Cazenovia College and throughout the Assembly District.
