Tough as it was for the Baldwinsville boys track and field team to absorb that April 19 defeat to Liverpool, it didn’t fret for too long.
In fact, the Bees’ very next outing was a triumphant one as it went to Fayetteville-Manlius last Wednesday afternoon and, with superior depth in all the disciplines, rolled to a 104-37 victory over the Hornets.
Kenny Stehle led the B’ville runners, going 16.4 seconds in the 110 high hurdles before rolling to a win in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.3 seconds.
Elsewhere in the Bees’ sprint sweep, Jack Buis tore to a time of 10.8 seconds in the 100-meter dash, while Greg Porceng won the 200-meter dash in 22.5 seconds. Kieran Sheridan took his turn in the 400-meter dash, prevailing in 51 seconds flat as Adam Davis ran 800 meters in 2:01.4.
B’ville also swept the relays. Davis, Sheridan, Evan Vannatta and Connor McManus went 8:14.2 in the 4×800 before Buis, Porceng, Tyler Luciano and Justin Goodridge rolled to first in the 4×100 in 44.5 seconds. Stehle, Sheridan, Vannatta and Mike Lawrence needed 3:40.6 to prevail in the 4×400.
In the field events, though F-M’s Romello Mitchell won the long jump, triple jump and high jump, B’ville countered with Gabe Horan unleashing a discus throw of 136 feet 10 inches, while Judson Fletcher threw the shot put 45’10”. Jaeho Lee, clearing 11 feet, won the pole vault.
As that was going on, the B’ville girls track team nearly upended F-M, winning most of the sprints and field events, but unable to dent the Hornets in the distance runs in the course of a 73-68 defeat.
Still, Adriana Straughter won twice for the Bees, clearing 5’2” in the high jump after zipping through the 100 hurdles in 15.4 seconds. Lauren Addario was victorious in the 100 sprint in 12.6 seconds, with Karen Ekure taking the 200 in 25.9 seconds.
Aside from Straughter’s long jump conquest, B’ville also had Danielle Marsell throw the discus 102’4” to win that event as Anna Miller had a top shot put toss of 30’3”. Maya Hewitt, clearing 7 feet, prevailed in the pole vault.
B’ville’s only other individual race win came in the 400 hurdles, where Shylea Dukat prevailed by going 1:07.3. Otherwise, F-M won every distance race, swept by Sophia Ryan (800 meters), Rebecca Walters (1,500) and Claire Walters (3,000), plus got wins in the 4×400 (4:07.9) and 4×800 (9:55.1) relays.

On the boys side, B’ville gained its lone win in the shot put, where Fletcher unleashed a throw of 46’4 ½” to beat the field by more than three feet. Horan tried to match that finish in the discus, heaving it 122’8”, but that was second to Central Square’s Justin Allison, who threw it 135’3”.
