Two positions are up for election on the Cazenovia Board of Education this year. Anyone interested in being a candidate must file a petition to run by April 13.
The two at-large vacancies to be filled on the Board of Education each are for a three-year term commencing July l, 2017 and expiring June 30, 2020. The vacancies arise from the expiration of the terms of Jan Woodworth and Leigh Baldwin, both of whom said they plan to run for reelection.
Woodworth, the current board president, said she has enjoyed her past six years on the board and likes representing the community to ensure the continued excellence of the school district.
“I would like to serve for another term to continue the work we are doing. I’m excited about the Strategic Planning we have embarked upon and am looking forward to seeing where that takes us,” she said.
Woodworth is the co-owner of Lamplit Farm as well as a professor in the Department of Vocational Teacher Preparation at SUNY Oswego.
Baldwin, the current board vice president, said he hopes to “continue to be a voice for equality and to also offer a private sector view on many issues.”
Baldwin is the founder of Leigh Baldwin & Co. Investment Brokerage firm, which has offices throughout Central New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Anyone interested in running for election has to submit a Petition for Nomination of a Candidate with a minimum of 25 signatures from qualified voters of the Cazenovia Central School District. The petition must be turned in to the district office by 4 p.m. on April 13.
The petition form can be downloaded off the district website at cazenoviacsd.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Nomination-Form-for-Board-of-Education.pdf.
