St. James Church has announced it will present its First Annual Christmas Play at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the church. This year’s production is “Emmie’s Jug-Band Christmas,” adapted from the story “Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas” by Russell Hoban. It will feature familiar Christmas favorites like “Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Joy to the World,” as well as some soon to be beloved songs like “And It Came to Pass” and “Mr. Santa.”
The play will star Vivianne Ketcham in the title role of Emmie, Lilian McGreevy as Alice Otter and JP Hoak as the narrator and emcee. Others featured are Emma Carroll, Maeve McGreevy, Finn Smith, Dennis Dougherty, Bella Fazio, Emma Enders and Olivia Ruddy. The cast is made up of 34 children between first and sixth grade as well as a special guest appearance by Fr. Kevin Corcoran. The production is led by co-directors Joan Stoker and Sue Rinaldo.
In lieu of ticket costs, admission is a donation to the St James Haiti Committee to be used to assist the St James’ Twin Parish is Tibeau, Haiti. Donations of any amount are appreciated and will be accepted at the door for general seating. All are welcome to attend.
