To the editor:
As the chairman of the Lysander Republican Committee and a Lysander resident, I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Dina Falcone over the past year. Dina was chosen to represent the Republican Party in the race for town clerk by the members of the Lysander Republican Committee. This was an exhaustive process that initially involved the committee interviewing two candidates that had showed interest in the position. The members of the committee chose to allow others to interview after one of those candidates withdrew from the race. After the second round of interviews, it became very clear to our members all citizens of Lysander that Dina was the right choice.
I’ve been asked by neighbors, “Why did the committee select Dina instead of a fellow member of the Republican Committee?”
The answer to this question is clear: The Lysander Republican Committee is no longer the party of insider politics. We are committed to doing the right thing for our town. Our committee selected the most qualified individual for the job.
Dina has the experience to do the job of town clerk. Dina has previously served the town of Salina in the supervisor’s office and the justice court. While in the court, she restructured the court by making changes that were cost-effective and helped to build the morale of her clerks. Prior to that she worked for John DeFrancisco as a Constituent Services Representative tending to the needs of our citizens.
As an appointed town clerk she has begun to make changes that have increased the level of service available from the town clerk’s office. She has changed the hours to accommodate people in the evenings and will be open on some Saturdays too. Shortly we will see additional conveniences as she continues to innovate the office to meet the needs of our residents.
In summary, when I am asked, “Why I would vote against a member of my committee?” The answer is simple: experience, ideals and exceptionalism. That’s what we should want for our town, and that’s why I am asking you to vote for Dina Falcone this November.
