To the editor:
This week, Cazenovians have the chance to spend a few minutes to help secure funds that will benefit everyone for a very long time. The Deluxe Corporation has put out a call for nominations for one special small town that would benefit from a $500,000 boost for its small businesses and downtown area. We believe that Cazenovia is exactly the kind of small town they are looking for and we believe that our community is determined enough to make it happen.
We encourage all Cazenovians to submit a nomination at smallbusinessrevolution.org/main-street-revolution. This simple form is quick to complete and requires only some basic information, Cazenovia’s population (7,086 including the Town of Cazenovia), and a statement of 500 words or less describing how this award would make a difference.
Nominations are only accepted through Friday, Oct. 21, so please don’t wait. Submit your nomination today.
Some ideas you might consider in your nominations:
•Our community has worked hard to maintain the historic character of our downtown and funding could help to boost these efforts.
•Our community members are committed to buying local although the geography of our rural community can be a challenge for small businesses.
•Small business supports are more difficult to access in a rural setting and funding could help to provide local services.
Cazenovia a special small town for many reasons. Some of our favorite things include: an agricultural community that stretches from farm to downtown farmers market, across rural farmers and CSAs to Amish farmers, that links wineries, breweries and local spirits in a beverage trail; a community that gives back through CazCares and through the schools and churches to families in need; a community that is intimately tied to its extraordinary natural beauty through GoCaz.com, which connects downtown with surrounding parks and trails.
Feel free to add your own ideas. We are confident that the reviewers will recognize that passion that community members have for Cazenovia.
