This weekend will offer a wide array of things to do in Cazenovia and the surrounding area, including festivals, forums, open houses, fundraisers, a storytelling event and a musical feast dinner. Here is a list of events, where and when they will be and what, if anything, they cost to attend:
Friday, Oct. 14
- The next Cazenovia Forum, “Dirty Tricks in Politics,” will be at 7 p.m. at the Catherine Cummings Theater, Lincklaen Street, Cazenovia. Allen Raymond, former political campaign operative, will speak about political campaign transgressions and attempts to manipulate election results, with particular attention to swing states. He is the author of the book “How to Rig an Election: Confessions of a Republican Operative.” A Q&A and open reception will follow his remarks. Free. The public is encouraged to attend.
- Spend an evening with a WWII veteran at 6:30 p.m. at the Morrisville Public Library. StanDavis was a staff sergeant in the US Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during WWII. He served as a Crew Chief on P47 style planes as well serving as an engineer on C47 transport planes. He also was an amateur photographer who took and collected over 700 photos of his time overseas. Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz recently digitized these images and will feature a number of these images as part of the talk. Davis will talk about his experiences and the photos. Free.
Saturday, Oct. 15
- Stop by Critz Farms for its Fall Harvest Festival, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3232 Rippleton Road, State Route 13, Cazenovia. There will be apples and pumpkins, cider mill and tasting room, corn maze, haunted barn for little monsters, wagon rides, farm animals, playgrounds, food, gifts and more. - The Cazenovia Fire Department will hold an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. at the department, 127 Albany St., Cazenovia. Tour the firehouse, talk to firefighters, sign up to be a volunteer.
- The New Woodstock Fire Department will hold an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. at the department, Mill Street, New Woodstock. Tour the firehouse, talk to firefighters, sign up to be a volunteer. The event is held in conjunction with the Annual Roast Beef Dinner. More details on line at NewWoodstockFD.com.
- The Nelson United Methodist Church is holding a roast beef dinner at 4:30 p.m. at the church, Rt. 20E in the hamlet of Nelson. Adults $12, children 5 to 12 $5, under 5 free. Call 655-3519 for information.

- The Hillcrest Jephson Estate is hosting a fundraiser for The Haven at Skanda, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the estate, 4571 Ridge Road, Cazenovia. Includes a silent auction featuring artwork, light refreshments and music provided by the Colgate University Chamber Ensemble. Adults only please. Tickets $75. - The Cazenovia High School Drama Club presents a ‘Musical Feast’ fundraiser at 5 p.m. at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. It will be an evening of Broadway songs performed by Club students, coupled with an Italian meal. Raffles for gift baskets. $20 for tickets from any drama club member or at Cazenovia High School.
