Pokémon GO Night at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo
Friends of the Zoo invites Pokémon GO trainers and masters to “catch ‘em all” during a special after-hours event at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo! Celebrate the end of summer, kick off the Labor Day weekend and meet other players on Thursday, Sept. 1 from 5-8 p.m. This is a family-friendly event. Tickets are $10 per person. Kids two and under are free. Youth ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or over).
A limited number of tickets will be available. Avoid lines at the door and get express check-in by purchasing now at rosamondgiffordzoo.org/Pokemon. Ticket includes entry into an on-site drawing to win a set of weekend passes to RetroGameCon 2016 this November in Syracuse ($50 value). Drawing at 7:45 p.m.; must be present to win.
The zoo has 12 Pokéstops and players can challenge each other at two gyms. Lures—items that attract Pokémon for a half-hour after placed—will be set at stops throughout the evening. Last entry is at 7 p.m. to allow enough time for guests to play and take advantage of lures. The zoo will close at its regular time (4:30 p.m.) before re-opening for this event.
While guests beat the heat and search for rare Pokémon they can also see some of the zoo’s incredible threatened and endangered species. (Note: some outdoor exhibits may be closed.) The Jungle Café will be open for players to replenish their energy with food and beverages available for purchase. Be sure to update your app and charge your battery before you arrive. The zoo will also offer two charging stations (with five USB inputs per station).
Have fun, play safe! All Pokémon can be captured from public areas. Be aware of surroundings, stay on marked pathways, be respectful of safety barriers and other guests and walk (don’t run) to Pokéstops. Share the fun by tagging Pokémon screenshots at the zoo on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with #SyracuseZoo or @SyracuseZoo.
