DeWitt — “A Christmas Story – The Musical” will make its Central New York premiere at Jamesville-DeWitt High School Dec. 10 to 12 with performances at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee for the Saturday show.
In 1940’s Indiana, a bespectacled boy named Ralphie thinks big and wishes for a Red Ryder BB Gun. A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a cranky department store Santa and a triple-dog dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the obstacles that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas dream.
Based on “A Christmas Story,” the classic 1983 movie drawn from stories by legendary radio humorist Jean Shepherd, the show features funny and heartfelt songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a faithful yet inventive book by Joseph Robinette. A “Christmas Story — The Musical,” which delighted Broadway audiences, captures the wonder of the season with a deliciously wicked wit sure to deliver an early holiday treat to children and grown-ups alike.
Over 120 talented JD cast, pit and crew members will bring “A Christmas Story — The Musical” to hilarious life on the Jamesville-DeWitt High School’s stage. Direction is by Shawn Forster, musical direction by Elizabeth Quackenbush, instrumental direction by Daniel Blumenthal, choreography by Kelsie Deyo and Shawn Forster, produced by Brenda Neuss, costumes by Katie Rausch and CNY Costumes Inc., set design by Navroz Dabu, set construction by Larry Stroh, lighting design and technical direction by Brian Rieger, and sound design by Dylan Spencer.
