Jeffrey John (Sprout) O’Neill, 58, of Skaneateles, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in Rochester after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born and raised in Skaneateles,. Shortly after graduating in 1976 from Skaneateles High School, Jeff worked for The Old Stone Mill and Bill Ryan, then he decided to find excitement in the Big Apple. Jeff worked as a Supervisor for EXTECH for over 20 years. Jeff participated in and enjoyed all sports. Austin Park was one of his favorite places. He especially enjoyed men’s softball, bowling and golf leagues. Jeff, being an avid sports fan, supported all the New York teams, especially all things SU along with the Mets, Giants, Bills, Rangers, Knicks, Jets, and Yankees. Jeff enjoyed watching and attending many games while living in the city. Jeff missed the small town feel and he returned to Skaneateles to help care for his mother. Jeff was predeceased by his father Harold Frank (Coach) O’Neill in 1972. Surviving are his mother Margaret O’Neill, sister and brother-in-law Jamie and Lenny DiSanza, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Skaneateles earmarked for the Austin Park Tree Project or to Hospice. The Bush Funeral Home of Elbridge has charge of arrangements.
