Bonita K. Holmes, 89, of Cazenovia passed away peacefully Wednesday morning , May 11, 2016, at home. She was born in Oneida, a daughter to the late Glenn and Gussie Keys and resided in Cazenovia for most of her life. Bonita was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 419. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sewing, gardening, singing and playing the piano.
Bonita was predeceased by her husband, John Holmes, Sr., who died in 2008 and by a son, Bruce Holmes, who died in 1952.
She is survived by her children, John Holmes, Jr. of Cazenovia, Glenn (Mary Jane) Holmes of Ontario, CA and Jill Mueller of Cazenovia; five grandchildren, John Paul Holmes, Joshua Mueller, Kelli Mueller, Todd Mueller and Jennifer Ramirez; three great grandchildren, Scout Mueller, Reid Washington and Harper Mueller; one brother, James (Jeannie) Keys of Central Square and one sister, Jean Keys of Central Square.
Funeral services are 1 p.m., Saturday, May 14, at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial is in Morrisville Rural Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Holmes may be made to CAVAC, P.O.
