Four years later, the Warriors set out on its latest quest, hosting General Brown in last Friday night’s season opener at LHS Stadium and getting a steady effort from start to finish in a 15-7 victory over the Lions.
For a brief while, General Brown had a notion of keeping up, as it only trailed 4-3 through one period. Over the course of the next two quarters, though, Liverpool’s defense took charge, frustrating the Lions and holding them to a single goal in those 24 minutes. Connor Presser earned most of his 13 saves in that stretch.
Though its attack really didn’t take off until the fourth quarter, Liverpool still saw Steven Audley, Cabry Hildmann and Dylan Wallace each net three goals, with Audley adding a trio of assists and Hildmann one assist.
Dillon Rogers helped out, too, earning a goal and three assists. Jon Jerman, with two goals and one assist, and Antonio Rey, with a goal and two assists, had matching point totals as Matt De Ruijter and Dante Dewane got the other goals.
Off for a week following wins over East Syracuse Minoa and Binghamton, Cicero-North Syracuse returned to Bragman Stadium last Saturday and dominated Union-Endicott from start to finish in a 17-1 romp over the Tigers.
The Northstars maintained its shutout over U-E until the fourth quarter, by which point things were long settled. C-NS was up 12-0 by halftime and, eventually, 10 different players would net goals.
Conner Collins led the way, scoring four times, with Justin Griffith, Josh Brazell, Nick Riccardi and Ray Scarlata each getting two goals. Single tallies went to Nate Scarlata, Brian Rowe, Dante Whitmire, Brandon O’Brien and Josh Pickard, with O’Brien joining Tayte Murray and Tommy Flynn in getting two assists.
