Earning victories on both the boys and girls sides, the Skaneateles indoor track and teams both would make an impact during Friday night’s Section III Class B championships at SRC Arena.
On the girls side, the Lakers had 76 points, good for third place as Cazenovia, staging a late rally, edged Christian Brothers Academy by half a point, 96.5 to 96, for the title.
Skaneateles won two of the three girls relays. In the 4×400, Katelyn Ellison, Cecilia Marrinan, Christina Ciaccio and Olivia Gage went four minutes, 18.18 seconds to beat Cazenovia (4:21.53) by more than three seconds.
And in the last race of the night, the 4×200 relay, Gage and Marrinan were back, joining Laurel Parker and Amanda Wetmore as the Lakers won in 1:50.98, again with Cazenovia (1:53.88) chasing them, but edging CBA in third place to get the two points it needed to overtake the Brothers in the final standings.
Mia Grasso was victorious in the high jump, the only competitor to clear 5 feet as four others could only clear 4’10” as Aubreah Lynn (4’6″) finished seventh. Then Angela Krause, in the triple jump, went 34’1 3/4″ to top Solvay’s Katie Harringto (33’5 3/4″) and the field.
