In last week’s issue, the Republican listed as many ribbon winners from the then-ongoing New York State Fair as it could, in competitions in everything from arts and crafts to agriculture to animal husbandry to cooking to talent competitions. Further ribbon winners have been announced since that time, and we take the opportunity to share their achievements:
In the state fair’s culinary competitions, three Cazenovians brought home six ribbons between them:
—Susan K. Reeve won three ribbons: first place in the two-bite appetizer/hors d’oeuvre contest; first place in the pizza on homemade crust contest; and third place in the New York wine and grape appetizer, entrée or dessert contest.
—Theresa Reeve won two ribbons: second place in the New York Beef Council Chili Contest, and third place in the Favorite Spam Recipe contest, ages 7 to 17.
— Kate Martellock won first place in the Favorite Spam Recipe contest, ages 7 to 17.
In the Youth Horse competition at the fair, Kav Young won 10th place in the western showmanship at halter division.
