Right after East Syracuse Minoa hosted a girls invitational meet on April 17, it faced Chittenango in OHSL Freedom division competition and beat the Bears 87-47, just part of a full slate for the Spartans, Jamesville-DeWitt and CBA.
Mia Montgomery, who won both the long jump and triple jump at the ESM Invitational, went 16 feet ½ inch in the long jump and 33’11” in the triple jump against Chittenango. She also ran a leg in the 4×100 relay (56.7 seconds) and tied Mackenzie Rath in the 100-meter dash in 13.7 seconds.
Natalie Marra also repeated her invitational double, winning the 1,500-meter run in 5:15.2 and the 3,000-meter run in 11:26.1. Mackenzie Bourdon was first in the 100 hurdles (19.4 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:15.5).
Elsewhere, Lindsey Crego was first in the shot put (27’1”) and Amina Jahic took the discus (66’10”), with Jolie Kiddle clearing 5 feet in the high jump and Skyler Parkis topping 6’6” in the pole vault.
It was much closer in the boys meet, but ESM lost, 71-70, to Chittenango. Abdullah Mujcic was first in the 100 (11.6 seconds) and 200 (23.8 seconds) and helped the Spartans’ 4×100 relay team prevail in 48.9 seconds. Martin Campbell heaved the discus 100’1” and the shot put 36’5”.
ESM met Fowler on Tuesday and won both sides of that meet, too, prevailing 81-32 on the girls side and 109-18 on the boys side. Alex McGrath won the boys 110 high hurdles (15.8 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:11.9), while Mujcic ran the 100 in 11.7 seconds and the 200 in 24.2 seconds before recording a top long jump of 18’5 ½”.
Campbell improved his discus throw to 106’3 ¼” and tossed the shot put 36’6 ¾”. Gavin Stevens ran to first place in the 400-meter dash in 58.4 seconds as Matt Young claimed the mile in 5:30.3. Rishov Chaterjee took first in the 800 in 2:36.9.
CBA met up with Westhill-Bishop Ludden on Wednesday and split that meet, with the girls, led by Anna Schug, defeating the Warriors 72-69, but the boys taking a 79-51 defeat.
Schug swept all three sprints, taking the 100 (12.8 seconds), 200 (24.7 seconds) and 400 (1:02.4), and running a leg in the 4×400 relay, which the Brothers won in 4:24 flat.
Elsewhere, Nafysa Williams was first in the high jump (4’10”) and triple jump (30’11”), while Julie McInvale threw the discus 74 feet and Kiana Ferguson went 14’1” in the long jump. Skylar Decker took the 100 hurdles (17.2 seconds) as Lucy Parson ran the 3,000 in 11:53.3.
Tom SanGiacomo and Dominic Morganti each won a pair of boys races, with SanGiacomo taking the 200 (23.4 seconds) and 400 (54.3 seconds), while Morganti won the mile (4:52 flat) and 800 (2:10.5). John Frasier’s discus throw of 120 feet was CBA’s lone win in a field event.
Jamesville-DeWitt routed Oswego in both parts of that meet on Wednesday, prevailing 118.5-21.5 on the girls side and 94-46 on the boys side.
In the boys meet, J-D’s Patrick Dye ran the 800 in 2:17 flat and the mile in 5:03.1, winning both races, while Will Cote took the 100 (11.6 seconds), Dylan Volk won the 200 (24.2 seconds) and Nolan Roosa was victorious in the 400 hurdles.
Moving to field events, Volk had a top triple jump of 40’4”, with Cote going 18’7 ¼” in the long jump. Joe Murphy swept the shot put (42’2 ½”) and discus (97’5 ½”), with Jacob Saletsky clearing 7’6” in the pole vault. J-D swept the 4×100 (45.6 seconds), 4×400 (3:55.4) and 4×800 (9:12.9) relays.
Meanwhile, in the girls meet, Alexandria Payne won three events, going 15’10 ¼” in the high jump and clearing 5 feet in the high jump after she ran the 100 hurdles in a swift 15.6 seconds.
Hannah Butler went 5:09.6 in the 1,500 and 2:34.5 in the 800, claiming both races, while Alexia Carr took the 200 (28.6 seconds) and Elena Harrer ran the 400 sprint in 1:02.4.
Mariah Williams was first in the shot put (27’10 ½”) and discus (76’8”), with Mackenzie Maxam going 28’3 ½” in the triple jump and Ciara Norris running the 100 sprint in 13.8 seconds.
Payne was just warming up for the Chittenango Invitational, where she won the five-event pentathlon, earning 2,899 points to finish nearly 800 points ahead of the field. Roosa was fourth in the boys pentathlon with 1,908 points.
Elsewhere, J-D’s girls 1,600 sprint medley team of Maxam, Rachel Fairbanks, Kailee Philleo and Casey Keane won that race in 4:28.62. Murphy was third in the boys shot put, tossing it 44’1”, and also third in the discus (107’3”), with Williams fifth in the girls shot put (29’2 ½”).
The boys Rams were sixth in the 4×100. Butler took fifth in the girls Fleet Feet Mile in 5:24.46, with Haarer in seventh place as, in the full-field mile, Sophia Vinciquera was fifth in 5:42.07.
ESM’s girls, competing Saturday in the Skaneateles-Marcellus Invitational, saw Montgomery win the triple jump, going 33’10” as she added a seventh in the long jump. Crego was ninth in the shot put and 11th in the discus.
Marra earned her second 3,000-meter win in as many weeks, posting 10:15.56 to beat the field by more than eight seconds. Bourdon got to sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:16.60.
Jolie Kiddle cleared 4’8” in the high jump and tied for third place. ESM added a seventh in the 4×100 relay (55.95 seconds), an eighth in the 4×400 relay and a ninth in the 4×800 as Kat Boyland took ninth place in the 400 sprint.
