More than one dozen members of Project Café, along with a few members of the Cazenovia community, spent an hour on Sunday, April 19, walking village streets picking up winter garbage.
Eight teams of two or more students covered about 80 percent of the village as their participated in the annual Earth Day village clean up, which Project Café has been involved in for about 15 years. This year, the majority of garbage on the streets was straws and cigarette butts, participants said.
“The streets were a lot better than they were a week ago,” said Project Café advisor and village Mayor Kurt Wheeler. “Last week there was a lot more garbage out there. Residents must have been out cleaning up as well.”
