Four stops signs in the town of Fenner and the main entrance door into the Fenner town office building were vandalized with spray-painted swastika signs recently, an action that will cost town taxpayers around $400 to fix.
The incidents occurred sometime during the evening of March 16, after town court had adjourned, Highway Superintendent Frank Hyatt told the Fenner town board during its April 9 regular monthly meeting.
“The state police are investigating but so far have had no results,” Hyatt said.
He said the graffiti on the front door of town hall was easily painted over, but the four vandalized stop signs cannot be fixed and must be replaced. Stop signs, which are reflective, cost about $80 to $100 each, Hyatt said.
Hyatt did not have the list of vandalized signs with him at the meeting, but from memory said one of the signs was on Irish Ridge Road and one was on South Road.
Town Supervisor Dave Jones said he and the board have not yet decided whether to prosecute the offenders if they are apprehended by police.

Douglas also said there will be a rabies clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Fenner town garage at 3151 Fenner East Road. The cost is a $5 donation per animal.
