Lysander Deputy Supervisor Melinda Shimer was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and unsafe backing March 31.
Shimer, 52, allegedly hit a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Tassone’s Wine Garden on Dexter Parkway in Lysander. Village of Baldwinsville Police found Shimer at her home at 8 Elizabeth St., Baldwinsville, shortly after the hit-and-run. Her blood alcohol content measured 0.13; the legal limit is 0.08.
State police arrested Shimer and charged her with driving while intoxicated (a misdemeanor) and unsafe backing and leaving the scene of an accident, both violations. She will appear in Lysander Town Court April 22.
Shimer had recently announced her intention to run for re-election to the Lysander Town Board as part of the Lysander First coalition.
