On May 26, Elden Elementary held its third annual Donuts for Dudes, a celebration of male role models.
Dads and other males important to Elden students enjoyed a beverage and a donut with their children before school began. Demonstrating true community spirit, the Dunkin Donuts franchise in Baldwinsville donated all 600 donuts needed for the event this year. Other local businesses contributing to the event included Starbucks, Wegmans, P & C, Quaker Steak & Lube, Clarion Hotel, Hotel Clarence, Mohegan Manor, Greene Ivy florists, Wal-Mart and the school PTA.
Elden has held the celebration for the last three years to encourage dads and other male role models to participate in their children’s lives, particularly in the school setting. The event has grown so popular that, in order to accommodate everyone, the school must use the cafeteria and the gym. The school estimates that about 600 people attended this year’s celebration.
