Village of Cazenovia Democrats met in caucus Monday evening, April 27. By unanimous vote of those present, the party nominated Tom Dougherty to run for re-election as Mayor, and Peggy Van Arnam and Amy Mann as candidates for the two Village Trustee seats up for election this year. Mann and Van Arnam will also circulate petitions for an independent line on the ballot. Village elections will be held on Tuesday, June 16.
Amy Mann grew up in Cazenovia, graduated from Cazenovia High School in 1985 and from Amherst College in 1989, returning to Cazenovia in 1997 to raise her family. Professionally, she has ten years of experience in the financial services industry. For the past eight years, Amy has been an active volunteer in the Cazenovia community, serving on the boards of the Cazenovia Children’s House, the Cazenovia Ski Club, and the United Community Chest of Cazenovia, Nelson, and Fenner. She lives on Sullivan Street with her husband, Kevin, and two sons.
Peggy Van Arnam and her husband, George, have been residents of Lincklaen Street for over 35 years, and Peggy has been an active participant in the community. She served on the committee which developed the Historic Preservation Ordinance, and worked with Lincklaen Street neighbors and Cazenovia College to arrive at a mutually acceptable plan when the college’s athletic center was built. A small business owner and member of Cazenovia Artisans, Peggy is currently secretary of the Historic Cazenovia Business District committee, as well as a member (and former treasurer) of the Friends of the Library Board. Before her retirement, Peggy was a teacher; a career counselor; and for many years an administrator of continuing education programs at Syracuse University.
