Baldwinsville Oktoberfest Committee Member Jim Jones handed out TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) training certificates to Jen Manning of Baldwinsville, Angela Strodel of Baldwinsville, Chuck Petty of Baldwinsville, Roz Salce of Baldwinsville, Rich Phillips of Marcellus and Jeff Colvin of Camillus, all of whom volunteered as bartenders during this past weekend’s Oktoberfest.
TIPs is designed to help servers do two things: quickly and accurately prevent sales to anyone who may have consumed too much alcohol; and prevent sales to anyone who is underage. More than 30 volunteers were trained at the brewery in preparation of Baldwinsville’s Oktoberfest.
The Anheuser-Busch Baldwinsville brewery partnered with the village of Baldwinsville for the 23rd annual Oktoberfest to ensure the local celebration was one of the safest. T.J. Sheehan Distributing, the brewery’s local distributor, provided all alcoholic beverages at the event.
“All of our employees look forward to the Oktoberfest every year,” said Plant Manager Steve McCormick. “It’s a fun event and we want to make sure we keep it safe.”
