ONONDAGA COUNTY – Freshly motivated after a 24-match win streak was halted by Fayetteville-Manlius Green at Green Lakes on Sept. 8, the Baldwinsville Red boys golf team immediately went back to winning form, only to meet defeat for a second time.
Head-to-head with its younger B’ville White counterparts last Monday at Timber Banks, B’ville Red won 172-213 as four different players broke par for nine holes.
Tying for individual honors, Aiden Motala and Owen Frechette each posted 33, but Alex Blum was close behind with a 34 and Sebastian Branshaw had a career-best 35.
Billy Shipman’s 37 nearly matched par, with Rocco Weaver and Dominic Purtell both shooting 40. Brayden Sheridan contributed a 42 as Craig Vredenburg had a 45 and Dominic DeRito had a 46.
Now the two B’ville sides faced separate foes, and in the case of B’ville Red it faced defeat again last Tuesday against undefeated West Genesee Gold.
The 191-202 loss saw Frechette shoot 36 to match the Wildcats’ Jon Shoults, Then Jameson Bard and Jason Clifton both shot 38, and Ben Glass had a 39 to equal B’ville’s Billy Shipman before Frank Barbuto clinched it with a 40., ahead of Motala’s 41 and Caleb Kinley’s 42. Alex Trasher shot a 44.
Now the second half of the league schedule began, B’ville rolling past F-M White 181-211 at Woodcrest on Friday afternoon with under-par totals from Frechette, who shot 34, and Motala, who shot 35.
Close behind them, Shipman and Kinley both finished with 36 ahead of the 39 from the Hornets’ Taden Minichillo, while Alex Roziok finished sixth, shooting 40.
Back on Tuesday, B’ville White took a 207-226 defeat to Liverpool at Timber Banks. Sheridan’s 42 led the Bees, but four Warriors matched or bettered it, led by a 39 from Brady Michaud. Weaver shot 43 ahead of Purtell’s 45, Vredenburg’s 47 and Cole Parker’s 49.
Against C-NS Blue on Wednesday, B’ville White lost 215-235, Sheridan getting a 43 to only trail the 41s by the Northstars’ Nate Bustin and Kaeden Hacker. Dominic DeRito was fifth with a 44, ahead of Weaver (47), with Parker getting a 50 and Griffen Lindsay a 51.
When B’ville White had its own match with F-M Green on Friday afternoon, it lost 209-254 at Timber Banks. Sheridan shot 44, six ahead of Vredenburg’s 50, while the Hornets swept the top five led by a 40 from Duncan McDaniel.
