Grenneth Alton McDeid, 88, of Elbridge, passed away July 21, 2023, at the Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn.
Alton was born to Dorothy Bartlett McDeid and Grenneth Nenzo McDeid in Auburn and raised in the Weedsport-Cato area.
While still completing his high school studies, Alton worked full-time at GE and around his own home and car. He graduated from Cato-Meridian High School and entered a career in graphic arts working at several regional print shops.
Later he became involved in real estate sales and auto sales, retiring from H & L Ford in Auburn at age 70.
Alton loved spending time with grandchildren and was an avid supporter at their school basketball games in the Weedsport schools. He also enjoyed being a TV spectator of both golf and basketball.
Besides his parents, Al was predeceased by a grandson and step-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Marion Roy McDeid, five sons, Michael (Theresa), Scott (Lisa), Terry (Donna), Blaine, and Brian (Kelly), stepson Stan (Michele) Davis and step daughter Sandra (Louis) Gray, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Per Alton’s wishes there were no calling hours.
A family celebration of life service was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Jordan, Tuesday, July 25. The Bush Funeral Home of Elbridge has charge of arrangements.
