Every Wednedsay, Richard and Mary Alice Rolfe, of Chittenango, hold Bible study in the community room of Cazenovia Village Apartments on Nelson Street in Cazenovia. Last week, they celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with young Irish step dancers from Chittenango led by Meghan Jennings.
Richard and Mary Alice call the study group “Sandy’s Faithful Beginnings” in memory of the Cazenovia Village Apartments resident who started the program.
“She’s here in spirit,” Mary Rolfe said. “Sandy was a wonderful person.”
The Rolfes worship at Church on the Rock in Oneida.
Evangelist Lawrence Richman, another member of the church, helps with the Bible study.
Richman stressed the importance of the group to the elderly residents of the apartments.
“We’re working to bring a union to the community,” Richman said. “We’re kind of like their extended family.”
On April 8, the group is hosting Maxine Adams of Syracuse. Adams will discuss the Underground Railroad.
The Bible study is held 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the community room of Cazenovia Village Apartments. Besides being offered for residents, the public is also welcome to attend.
