When you walk into The Show Trunk, the first thing to notice is the vast array of equestrian and riding products they offer.
The Show Trunk moved to Cazenovia from Fayetteville in November, putting it in the middle of the Route 20 corridor, what some in the area are calling “Equine Alley.”
“A lot of our customers are out this way, being on Equine Alley,” Store Manager Kaitlin Dean said.
Dean is a graduate of Cazenovia College, and began at The Show Trunk as an intern.
In addition to equine products, The Show Trunk also sells dog products.
As far as Dean is concerned, the emphasis is on being local.
“We try to really cater to that,” Dean said. “We’re your neighborhood tack shop.”
Dean said the level of service can’t be matched online or by non-local retailers. The shop keeps detailed records of all of their customers’ transactions.
“When you call and say ‘buddy needs a new blanket,’ we remember what size he is,” she said.
Store owner Melissa Zomro Davis is also a Cazenovia College graduate. After earning her degree in special education, her interest in horses led her to pursue her dream of owning her own tack shop, and she opened The Show Trunk in 2007.
Riders out at local horse shows might see The Show Trunk’s mobile unit at the ready; look for the mobile unit at Bridle Path Manor show New York State fairgrounds June 19 and 20.
“If all of our customers are there, we should be there too,” Dean said.
The Show Trunk is located at 57 Albany St. in downtown Cazenovia. The store is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 815-4045 or e-mail [email protected].
